MINIMALLY INVASIVE SURGERY FOR DOGS & CATS
A Modern, Gentle Surgical Approach That Supports Faster Recovery

Faster Recovery
Minimally invasive surgery (MIS), also known as keyhole surgery, is a modern method for performing surgeries on dogs and cats through very small incisions (less than 5 mm).
Instead of large surgical incisions, this approach uses specialized instruments and high-resolution cameras (endoscopes) that allow for precise work within the abdominal and thoracic cavities.
At VET-F Clinic, this type of surgery is performed with a focus on maximum patient comfort and a smoother recovery.

Minimally Invasive Surgery
Minimally invasive surgery is an alternative to traditional (open) surgery. In standard surgeries, larger incisions are made, and tissue manipulation is more traumatic. In MIS:
- access is through small incisions;
- visualization is via a magnifying camera;
- the surgeon works with high precision.
Depending on the area of intervention:
- Laparoscopy – surgeries in the abdominal cavity
- Thoracoscopy – surgeries in the chest cavity.
These methods are used for both diagnosis (e.g., biopsies) and complete surgical treatment.
Minimally invasive surgery offers a number of important benefits that help reduce stress for both the animal and its owner:

Laparoscopic surgeries
(abdominal cavity)
- Spaying of female dogs and cats (so-called bloodless spaying)
- Neutering of male animals with abdominal cryptorchidism
- Laparoscopically assisted cystotomy
- Laparoscopically assisted gastropexy
(prevention of gastric torsion; can be combined with spaying) - Laparoscopically assisted cholecystectomy
(removal of the gallbladder) - Organ biopsies (liver, pancreas)
- Treatment of prostatic cysts and omentalization
Thoracoscopic surgeries
(thoracic cavity)
- Pericardial window for pericardial effusion
- Correction of Patent Ductus Arteriosus (PDA)
- Biopsy of lung and thoracic neoplasms
At VET-F Clinic, minimally invasive surgery is performed using::
