Barney has a three-month history of hemorrhagic colitis, with the primary symptoms being bleeding in the colon and fresh blood in his stools. After unsuccessful attempts to control the bleeding, Barney was referred to our team for a colonoscopy.

A colonoscopy is a minimally invasive procedure in which a camera is used to examine the colon. During the procedure, we discovered a growth that turned out to be the cause of the persistent bleeding and the fresh blood in Barney’s stool.

The polyp visualized with a camera:

The growth was removed using a minimally invasive procedure, and Barney recovered within 48 hours.

However, Barney’s case presented an additional challenge: he also had a kidney issue, which made anesthesia an extremely delicate part of his treatment. For patients with compromised kidney function, every detail of monitoring during and after anesthesia is critical.

The removed mass was sent for histopathological examination, and the results indicated a benign nature—specifically, a polyp.Barney made an excellent recovery.

We thank Barney’s owners for their trust and dedication! 🐕
